New research inspired by constructivism, Dada & ready-made, geometric shapes mixed with nostalgic found images... New Studio in Normandy

After cleaning the previous salty room in the oysterfarm, I have now arranged all my art stuff in Gatteville, Normandy, just by the sea. That's actually the first time I have the whole room for my studio and that's great! Good to organise and divide my materials under categories! Next step will be the wall of pictures for the coming new collection of objects. Will update you with the development!

Dear all!

Very recently I've been asked to present my work "Colours of Japan" again, this time at Pyrus basement gallery in Soho, with another designer Karen Hsu.
After what happened in Japan, having researched for months about this country, I was very sensitive by the terrible news and I am pleased to show and sell my work to help a little by raising money for the earthquake and tsunami relief effort. Therefore some of my work will be on sale and a percentage will be donated directly to the British Red Cross. (will be indicated in the exhibition)
The display of my work will be slightly different from the exhibition I had in Space Fiftyfour, more working the pieces inside the new space towards two installations to experience. I'll invite you inside those two arches to take a moment for reading, thinking & contemplation.

Karen Hsu will also be showing her work. She has created a one-off art piece by gathering her signature handmade pom-poms into a cherry tree. Karen's website.

The week-long exhibition will be held in the Basement Gallery at Pyrus in the Newburgh Quarter.

"Colours of Japan"
A mixed media exhibition to feel Japan inspired

Space Fiftyfour in Shoreditch will showcase the artwork by French artist-designer Marie Paysant-Le Roux. For her first solo exhibition, Marie invites you to discover her latest work inspired by her findings from Japan, displaying her mixed media practice. From photographs to material experiments, you will travel through three creative colour stories.

After graduating from the Royal College of Art with a Master in mixed media Textiles in 2009, Marie worked in interior design for the renowned Studioilse before going to Japan in September 2010. Strongly influenced by the green landscapes, the vivid orange from the temples, and a whiteness-pinkish beauty, she starts this project focusing on the more traditional Japanese aesthetic but exploring colour in a contemporary way.

Marie says: “ I believe that colour hides deep cultural meaning and history. Surrounding us in nature, growing into food and materials, until worn on our bodies and inside our homes, we are all the time immersed into colour. That’s why I like to explore cultural identity and aesthetic from a colour analysis.”
“Creating my own material samples, hand-dyed fabrics, or craft objects, I am always in search for fine textures and subtle shades that will express the right atmosphere. I often play with unexpected materials to surprise our senses and propose a different way of learning, here about some Eastern usages, to also question and confront with our own simple rituals.”

Colour workshop with Anais Tondeur-Brave New Alps week at the RCA-

Organised by "Brave New Alps" (Brave New Alps are Bianca Elzenbaumer and Fabio Franz, second year students in Communication at RCA), stop.swap is a series of cross-departmental skills workshops and talks happening this week in the Hockney Gallery at RCA.
Last Wednesday the 7th of October 09, I was invited by my friend Anais Tondeur to organize with her a workshop on colours and textures to a few students from communication, product design, architecture and textile. So we have done a few exercises together, painting basic squares of colours, understanding a textural dimension of a colour, and extracting a colour palette as well as a sensitive approach from one picture.
